Former Free Press president was a champion for the city of Detroit


Don Crandall Becker, a former president of the Detroit (Michigan) Free Press who also served as chairman of the Detroit Chamber of Commerce, has died.

He was 88.

Becker died Friday at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, in the presence of his immediate family after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease, said his son James Becker.
