By: E&P Staff Margaret Randazzo was named publisher and president of The Modesto (Calif.) Bee. She will also have oversight of the Merced (Calif.) Sun-Star. Randazzo replaces Lynn Dickerson who was appointed McClatchy?s vice president of operations.
Randazzo is currently a special assistant to three Knight Ridder senior executives in San Jose, Calif.

Randazzo, 38, began her newspaper career in 1996 as a financial planning manager for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in Texas. In 1998, she was named vice president and CFO of the paper.
In 2001, she joined Knight Ridder corporate as vice president and controller. In 2003, she became a special assistant to the president and vice president of the newspaper division. In 2005, she became a special assistant to three senior Knight Ridder executives with oversight of the operations of the company?s 32 daily newspapers and Knight Ridder Digital. In that role, she provided financial and advertising analysis, established operating budget processes, and analyzed potential acquisitions.
Knight Ridder shareholders are expected to approve the McClatchy acquisition during an annual shareholder meeting today in San Jose.
