Former 'L.A. Times' Publisher Puerner Joining A.H. Belo Board

By: E&P Staff John P. Puerner, former publisher, president, and CEO of the Los Angeles Times, has been elected to the board of directors of Dallas-based newspaper publisher A.H. Belo.

Puerner, 56, is a private investor who served as the Times chief from 2000 to 2005, when he retired from Tribune Co. During his career at Tribune, he was publisher, president and CEO of The Orlando Sentinel, and vice president and director of marketing and development for the Chicago Tribune.

Also elected to the board was David R. Morgan 44, the Real Media Inc. founder who most recently was executive vice president/global advertising strategy for AOL, a position he held from September 2007 until February 2008.

A. H. Belo, which was spun off from Belo Corp. as a newspaper pure-play, has eight directors with the addition of Morgan and Puerner.
