He lived for newspapers and loved traveling.
Tony Williams, a retired 35-year Register journalist and Westminster resident, died Friday, leaving lasting memories inside and outside the newsroom.
A reporter at his high school newspaper, he immediately developed a passion for journalism. Williams attended Virginia Military Institute, where he graduated in 1958 before attending the journalism school at the University of Missouri. He graduated from Missouri in 1961 after a short academic sabbatical to serve in the Army, where he was a first lieutenant.
