By: E&P Staff Longtime Rocky Mountain News Sports Cartoonist Drew Litton announced earlier this month that he is considering debuting a Web comic that would combine "the Man from U.N.C.L.E. meets the Big Easy meets Lethal Weapon."
Litton drew sports-related cartoons for the Rocky Mountain News for 26 years before the paper's presses halted in February. He has since started his own Web site, drewlitton.com, as well as a freelance business, Littoonz Studios. His sports cartoons are syndicated by United Media.
"There is a whole new model for doing a comic strip out side of print media these days, one in which I find very exciting and a bit freeing," Litton wrote on the INDenver Times Web site July 3. "Cartoonists who are syndicated are often kept on very tight leashes by editors and publishers who get a bit paranoid when they get a single phone call about something that has upset a reader. ... On the internet there are no such restrictions. The problem is monetizing the strip."
Litton also wrote that the Web comic would be set in the Louisiana bayou, "since I love the setting and the landscape." To see a prototype of Litton's proposed Web comic, go
