By: Dexter Hill Helen Huntley, who after 20 years took an early retirement and left her position as financial columnist for the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times in August, has created her own financial advisory firm with a former newspaper colleague.
Huntley has become a certified financial planner and has partnered with Rhonda Holifield, the Times? former business news editor, and launched Holifield Huntley Financial Advisers in St. Petersburg. After only a few months, Huntley is managing about $4.3 million of the firm?s $27 million in assets, the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune
reported.
According to the firm?s
Web site, Holifield Huntley offers financial planning in areas including college, retirement, income taxes, and divorce settlements. Investment management services include risk management, asset allocation, and quarterly portfolio reviews.
Huntley has already begun generating publicity for the new business. According to the Herald-Tribune, she will speak at a seminar in St. Petersburg next month titled, ?How Thinking Like a Reporter Can Make You a Better Investor.?
