By: E&P Staff Timothy Roche, a former St. Petersburg Times and Time Magazine reporter who was imprisoned in 1993 for refusing to name a source died Friday at 38, according to the St. Petersburg, Fla., paper.
Roche became ill last week, suffering multiple strokes, and was treated for several deays at a hospital before being transferring to the hospice where he eventually died.
Starting as a writer for newspapers when he was in high school, Roche became Time's Southern bureau chief in 2002. He is described in the St. Petersburg Times article as "dogged" and "a journalist?s journalist -- hard-working, caring and thorough."
