By: E&P Staff Jim Klobuchar, a former sportswriter for the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, Minn., has joined the non-profit online newspaper MinnPost as a Vikings writer.
Klobuchar's addition was announced by MinnPost Wednesday, the same day his first column, "The second reincarnation of Brett Favre," ran on the site. On Tuesday, the Vikings announced that they had signed the former Green Bay Packer quarterback to a two-year deal. One of Klobchur's responsibilites will be to break down each week's Vikings game, beginning Sept. 14, the Monday after the start of the season.
A Minnesota native, Klobuchar worked for the Star Tribune as a columnist for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was named outstanding columnist for newspapers with circulation over 100,000 by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists in 1984. Since retiring, he has written occasionally for the Christian Science Monitor and is also the author of 23 books, including "Tarkenton," a biography of the legendary Vikings quarterback.
Klobuchar is also the father of Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.
