Former 'State Journal' Publisher in Kentucky Dies at 80

By: A former publisher of The State Journal newspaper in Frankfort, Albert E. Dix, has died after an illness. He was 80.

Dix led the paper from 1962 to 1996. He was a Ravenna, Ohio, native and graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Attorney and longtime friend Bill Kirkland told The State Journal that no one was any kinder or more generous than Dix. He called him "a person of intellect, humor, good personality and good judgment."

Dix died Tuesday at his home in Frankfort.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at South Frankfort Presbyterian with visitation starting at noon at the church.
