Former 'Tulsa World' Editor Wilson Dies

By: Riley Wilson, a former general editor of the Tulsa World, has died from complications with prostate cancer.

The newspaper reported the 78-year-old Wilson died yesterday.

Wilson attended Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Oklahoma, graduating from OU in 1950 with a journalism degree.

Before joining the World's staff in 1954, Wilson served as the sports and wire editor at the Shawnee News-Star in his hometown and the sports editor at the Norman Transcript. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

In 1956, he became the World's oil editor, and in 1976, he became the World's business editor. He became the paper's general editor in the mid-1980s.

The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame inducted Wilson in 1999.
