Former Washington Daily Times Executive Editor William Coughlin Dies at 91

William J. Coughlin, who after a career as a globe-trotting correspondent landed in a small North Carolina town where he led the local newspaper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning exposure of carcinogens in municipal drinking water, died on Thursday in Bolivia, N.C. He was 91.

The cause was liver cancer, his former wife Patricia Conlon said.
