Fort Collins 'Coloradoan' Publisher Chin Resigns

By: Joe Strupp Christine Chin, president and publisher of The Coloradoan in Fort Collins, Colo., since 2005, resigned Tuesday, citing family and personal reasons.

Chin, who is married and has a 9-year-old daughter, told the newspaper today, "I've achieved the professional goals I set for myself 20 years ago and decided it was time to work on my work-life balance."

The Coloradoan's report added that a search for a successor is under way.

"Christine and I have worked together for 15 years and I have the utmost respect for her," Michelle Krans, Pacific Group regional vice president for Gannett Co. Inc., which owns the daily, told the paper. "In her three years as publisher of the Coloradoan, she has served the community with a great deal of passion and always with her customers in mind. I wish her every success in her future endeavors."

Chin told the paper that "the highlight of her tenure was making the Coloradoan more local in focus and more connected to community needs and issues."

"It has been a privilege and an honor to work with this team and to serve this community," she added. "I enjoy making a difference and will continue to do so in some other capacity in the future."
