By: E&P Staff The Farley Foundation (FF) today assisted its 1,000th pet owner, according to the "For Better or For Worse" Web site.

FF is a 2001-founded charitable organization, run by Ontario veterinarians, that subsidizes the cost of veterinary care for pet owners in need. It's named after the late dog who was a character in Lynn Johnston's "For Better or For Worse" comic.

So far, the foundation has provided more than $305,000 to assist the 1,000 pet owners and their pets -- including 552 dogs, 435 cats, five rabbits, five birds, two rats, and one snake.

"For Better or For Worse" runs in more than 2,000 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
