Fox News Poll: 58% Want U.S. Troops Out of Iraq Within a Year

By: E&P Staff A new poll for Fox News found that 58% of Americans wants U.S. troops out of Iraq in a year or less.

This is in line with other recent surveys, with the twist here of the respondents being registered voters. Few editorial pages in the U.S. have endorsed this notion.

The poll by Opinion Dynamics, based on interviews with 900 registered voters, also found that 67% think the U.S. will not stop the situation from becoming a civil war.

On the pullout question, 27% said they wanted all troops out by the end of this year, and 31% opted for "gradually over the next year."
