By: E&P Staff Israel Hayom, a popular free daily distributing approximately 225,000 copies, has installed WoodWing Software's Smart Connection Enterprise from WoodWing, Zaandam, the Netherlands. It is the publishing system developer's first customer in Israel.

Ofer Braver, CEO of Netgo Ltd., WoodWing's authorized solution partner in Israel, called the installation "the start of a real interactive work in multi-channel publishing." He credited Smart Connection Enterprise with enabling the paper to meet the challenges of last-minute changes on strict deadlines in a country "where hot news develops on an hourly basis." Braver also cited WoodWing for its ability to work with Hebrew and right-to-left writing.

"The system allows us to gain order and control within the various production processes," said Israel Hayom IT Data Systems Manager Itay Farbshtein.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
