Terry Horne, president and publisher of The Orange County Register, is assuming the additional role of as vice president of parent company Freedom Communications Inc.’s Pacific region, effective July 1.
Horne will now oversee Freedom’s Marysville, Porterville and Victorville newspapers in California as well as The Sun in Yuma, Ariz.
Horne’s executive team at the Register is also seeing some changes, to align with his new responsibilities.
Chief financial officer Michael Henry has also been named general manager of Orange County Register Communications, under which all of the Register’s Orange County media properties operate. In this new capacity he will oversee circulation, operations and the magazine group.
Vice president/advertising Tom Kelly has been named interim senior VP/sales.
Horne succeeds Julie Moreno, former publisher of the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Ariz., which was sold in March. Moreno now is publisher of The Gazette in Gaston, N.C., paper, and serves as vice president of Freedom’s North Carolina region.
