By: E&P Staff Freedom Communications rolled out a weekly tab today targeting teens in Victorville, Calif., called freshink.
"The support has been really amazing," said Beatriz Valenzuela-Davalos, editor of freshink, in a statement. "We have close to 20 teenagers that have committed to write for us."
The tab is distributed for free in more than 80 locations including area high schools. The staff is a mix of teens and experienced journalists who cover local news, music, gaming, and entertainment. The print version also has a Web site component (www.freshinkonline.com), which promises to be "highly interactive" and "updated every day."
Victorville's Daily Press Publisher Stephan Wingert said the new pub has been well received by advertisers. "Basically, we have discovered that there is a definite demand for a teen product and we are ready to fill the void," he said.
