The official publisher of the French government, Dila (La Direction de l'Information Légale et Administrative), formerly known as Journal Officiel, has ordered new Goss doublewide Uniliner equipment to replace a singlewide Goss Universal press at its facility in Paris. The press, which will be in production in June 2011, will print both coldset and UV products.
The full order by Dila is for two 18-inch cut-off Uniliner press lines. The first will include one two-high tower, two reelstands and a 2:5:5 folder and will be dedicated principally to coldset production of the six-day Journal Officiel. Ranging from 24 to 600 A4 pages and circulating approximately 9,000 copies, it will be printed in collect mode on the new press. The second press line, to be configured to print one web in full color, will include one four-high tower, UV dryer, reelstand and 2.5.5 jaw folder. The UV-equipped tower will print the publications of what was previously La Documentation française, a sister organization of Journal Officiel, as well as publications containing information on public, civil, legal, financial and commercial matters.
The Uniliners will have a Goss T90 configuration, with reelstands and units at a right angle to the press axis, providing a compact footprint with advantages for efficient operation, such as easier web-width changes.
Dating from 1994, the Universal had been upgraded over the years and once completely refurbished, but the Uniliner will better fill Journal Officiel's range of requirements in a cost-effective configuration, according to Goss.
