French Group Moves Onto Protec System

By: E&P Staff Pau-based French communications group Pyrenees Presse, a newspaper publisher and part of the Sud Ouest Group, will develop a convergent newsroom using an editorial system from Protec, Madrid, Spain.

The group aims to modernize its systems to improve efficiency in content creation, integrating all departments involved in producing the group's publications, optimizing resources, and increasing productivity.

Installation has begun, and start-up with the new components is expected at the end of November. Pyrenees Presse chose Protec based on other group members' satisfaction with its products.

Fifty-year-old Pyrenees Presse's main publications are the dailies L'Eclair des Pyrenees and La Republique des Pyrenees, with 2005 circulations of 10,000 and 30,000, respectively. Produced in Pau and distributed in the same area and neighboring localities, the papers, share 80% of their content and, unlike most French regional dailies, have no separate editions.
