Reading E&P is always a delight. Even more so when I see pop-culture references throughout your headlines. Elvis Costello ("Pump it up until you don't need it," October E&P, p. 10) and U2 ("Outside it's America," October E&P p. 70) are two of my favorite artists whose songs lend themselves quite nicely to headlines. Plus, I get a rockin' soundtrack going in my head as I read the article. Keep up the good work!

I find it rather humorous to read today about the prosecution (and dismissal) of the ad salesman in Nashville over their ?Personal? ad. If there is one commonality among all alternative weeklies, it would have to be the absolute proliferation of ?Personal? & ?Escort? ads in their classified section. What made the Nashville Scene so special?
New Times, Village Voice and the other owners of alternative papers have made a killing on adult ads. Do you really think that these companies are going to allow the prosecution to go on without a fight? I don?t think so.

What's the deal with blocking free access to Mo Dowd on the one hand and force-feeding us Judith Miller "news" on the other hand. Is this a propaganda conspiracy? When is the Times going to figure out who the winners are and who the losers are?

Maureen Dowd needs to boycott Time Select. Why would anyone pay to read her senseless drivel? The same goes for Herbert and Krugman. They are anti-Christian anti American elitists that have nothing intelligent to say in their columns except to bash President Bush which seems to be the only requirement needed to be on the New York Times staff

I think that if Dowd is not participating in this Times Select gimmick, she is perfectly justified. Sulzberger and Keller have been blurring the line between advertising appeasment and editorial courage since boy Sulzberger has taken over. If Ms. Dowd has a contract to provide a certain amount of content, then she should feel obliged to fullfill that contract. If she is even close to being as upset as I am with NYTimes management, then she should hold back on any
freebies.
If Sulzberger and Keller feel as they do about charging selectively for talent and for getting mired into the reporting of the likes of Miller the Martyr and Jayson Blair, perhaps they should move this ethical standard somewhere else. The NY Times is looking more and more like the Wall Street Journal, a totally different kind of news outlet, and I don't like it at all.

Some people have wondered why it took so long for Scooter Libby to give his permission to Judith Miller to testify about his being her
source. Perhaps the answer is a matter of simple math, being the
amount of time needed to make sure all the hard evidence was
thoroughly shredded.

Was Judith Miller's appearance on Lou Dobbs' CNN show an act? Just knowing what I have read about Miller--is she believing her own bull? Why is Dobbs so gullible? This is a clear case of powerful people in govt using someone(Miller) and she using them right back. Who fed her that false info on WMD? She lapped it up and asked for more. Oh and Judy, how about a little favor and out a CIA agent whose husband is hurting yours and our story?
You know George and Dick will love you even more.
