By: E&P Staff When a chain imposes a death sentence on the second newspaper in a big city, there's often a public outcry and furious efforts to find a local owner. Just as often, the passion fades quickly, and the doomed paper, which few people read anyway, is quickly forgotten.
But in New Mexico, The Albuquerque Tribune, continues to exert a pull on an improbable civic group, nine months after it was folded by E.W. Scripps Co. Just this week, "Friends of The Albuquerque Tribune" published the third print edition of a paper they hope will one day take the Trib's place as an online daily and print bi-monthly.
