Twenty years ago, Jim VandeHei took an unassuming job that would later shape the global news empire he’s still building. Fresh out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with degrees in journalism and political science — numerous job rejections in hand — he joined a weekly newsletter called New Fuels Report in Washington.
