By: E&P Staff Several events took place during yesterday's "Roger Ebert Day" in Chicago.
The Chicago Sun-Times, where Ebert works, reported that the festivities began outside the Chicago Theatre on State Street. There, the movie critic was honored with a large sidewalk "medallion." Local writer/director Harold Ramis emceed the event, whose attendees included Mayor Daley and Marlene Iglitzen -- widow of Ebert's former TV partner, the late Chicago Tribune movie critic Gene Siskel.
Later, there was a video tribute to Ebert, Q&A session, and lunch at the Chicago Cultural Center, followed by an evening cocktail reception.
Ebert -- who also celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary yesterday -- is syndicated by Universal Press Syndicate.
