By: E&P Staff Newsroom employees will soon take unpaid furloughs at The Morning News of Springdale, Ark., days after the Stephens Media-owned paper laid off nine journalists.
The paper reported last week that an undisclosed number of cuts were implemented at other departments of the paper.
"We regret having to reduce our work force. Our hearts go out to our friends and colleagues at this difficult time," publisher Tom Stallbaumer said. "They all contributed to our success and they will be missed."
This week the newspaper reduced its weekday sections to three from five, and Sunday sections to six from seven.
