By: E&P Staff Fusion Systems International, Portland, Ore., has released its iTrap In-RIP interactive trapping solution for use with all OS X-based Harlequin RIPs. Also available on Windows, the plug-in was developed for OS X by Fusion Systems in conjunction with Lucid Dream Software, which provided core trapping software.
iTrap is available in three configurations -- iTrap Full Server, iTrap Full, and iTrap Auto Viewer.
Features of iTrap include cross-platform support (Windows and Apple Macintosh); tight integration with Fusion Systems' workflow; I-Link technology, which allows for trap once, output many formats; on-the-fly trapping for previewing trap settings in an easy-access zoom window; tools to adjust trapping parameters on a page or page-zone basis for single or multi-page jobs; graphical configuration tool for editing ink-based trapping parameters; special image and vignette trapping options; intelligent brush that automatically adjusts the width at the corners and when creating complicated trap shapes; setup tool to help configure trapping queues in the Fusion or other Harlequin RIP; improved workflow-management tool; iTrap viewer, which works as a remote- or server-based automatic trapping station via a watch folder; fast performance on local networks.
iTrap can be enhanced by the free I-PDF optional PDF trapper, I-JPEG soft-proofing option for producing quality soft- proof files, and I-PDFxM for creating raster-based PDF/x format files.
