Gallup Confirms: Tom Cruise's Approval Ratings Plunging

By: E&P Staff Criticism of actor Tom Cruise has been growing for months, his new movie is a bomb, and now a Gallup Poll confirms that Cruise may be out of control.

Asked to rate five top films stars, the public offered favorable views of Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, and Brad Pitt, but expressed thumb's down on Cruise. Gallup says his favorable ratings have dropped significantly since last year.

Cruise now has a 35% approval rating, which at least tops President Bush's by a few points. Only last summer Cruise's positive rating was 58%.

By contrast, Clooney (the liberal activist) shows 66% favorable, Aniston 59%, Jolie 43% and Pitt 42%.

Cruise's appeal has declined most among younger Americans, Gallup said.
