GALLUP: Thompson Moves Up to 3rd in GOP Prez Race, Hurts Rudy

Posted
By: E&P Staff In something of a shocker, a new Gallup poll suggests former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, an actor now, has moved up to third in the public's rating in the race for the GOP nod for president in 2008. He has just started considering a run.

Included in the Gallup survey for the first time, Thompson drew 12% of the vote. Rudy Giuliani gets 31% and Sen. John McCain 22%, according to the March 23-25 poll.

Giuliani has plunged 13% race with Thompson in the picture, with McCain holding steady.

But he still easily bests McCain in a one-on-one matchup.
