By: E&P Staff Gannett appointed Todd A. Mayman as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. He was previously vice president/associate general counsel, secretary and chief governance officer.
Additionally, Gannett said that Barbara W. Wall will become vice president and senior associate general counsel. She was vice president and associate general counsel.
Mayman succeeds Kurt Wimmer who is becoming the lead partner of the media practice at Covington & Burling.
"This new position will enable Todd to expand his role in ways that can only benefit Gannett going forward," Craig Dubow, chairman, president and CEO, said in a statement. "Barbara's role as our guardian of the First Amendment is legend among our journalists."
"Kurt has been a great asset to Gannett," Dubow continued. "His knowledge of First Amendment law and broadcast issues were crucial to the company's advancement during this time."
