By: Gannett Co. Inc., the largest U.S. newspaper publisher and operator of USA Today, on Monday said it has completed its acquisition of UPN affiliate KTVD-TV in Denver.
Gannett first announced the deal in December. Financial terms are undisclosed.
Gannett continues to own the NBC affiliate, KUSA-TV in Denver.
The company acquired KTVD-TV from owners the Channel 20 TV Co. and Twenver Broadcast Inc.
Gannett owns two stations, or has a duopoly, in Jacksonville, Fla., as well, with WTLV-TV and WJXX-TV. A third duopoly of Atlanta stations WXIA-TV and WATL-TV in Atlanta, is pending.
Shares of Gannett rose 33 cents to $54.50 during afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
