Gannett Group Goes to Goss for Inserting

Posted
By: E&P Staff Gannett's Central New York Newspaper Group will install an integrated post-press system from Goss International at a facility now under construction for combined production of the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin, the Ithaca Journal, and the Elmira Star-Gazette.

Components will include two Goss NP630 inserters, gripper conveyors, and Goss Omnizone supervisory controls, which will be used to streamline preprint advertising operations across all three newspapers. The new plant, in Johnson City, will go into operation in the fall of 2006.

Already used at another Gannett site, the NP630s and conveyors "will meet our daily and Sunday inserting needs for many years," said the group's project manager, Andrew Swanton.

One Goss NP630 inserter at the Central New York Newspaper Group will have 30 stations and be equipped for dual delivery. The second will have 14 stations. Goss also will supply an NP125 delivery gripper, NP200 press gripper and online-transfer components.
