Gannett Leads Recent Glunz & Jensen VisionMaster Orders

By: E&P Staff The Gannett Co. has ordered six VisionMaster punch/benders from Glunz & Jensen for The News Journal, Wilmington, Del., two for The Tennessean in Nashville, and three for The Journal News, White Plains, N.Y. All also ordered conveyors and stackers to maintain automated plate production.

The VisionMaster is Glunz & Jensen's first true vision-to-target registration punch/bender priced under $50,000.00. VisionMasters in Nashville and White Plains punch and bend plates for 46- and 44-inch web widths. Wilmington's will be installed when its web width is reduced to 44 inches.

Konica Minolta Graphic Imaging, Grand Rapids, Mich., also ordered a VisionMaster for The Mail Tribune, Medford, Ore.

Tech Energy Inc., Cibolo, Texas, ordered new CML press-registration lockups for the Midland (Texas) Reporter-Telegram for its web reduction, slated for early September.

For its web-width reduction to 46 inches, The Virginian Pilot, Norfolk, ordered a retrofit kit for its ProVision Alliance punch/bender.

Recent Glunz & Jensen overseas users include United Printing and Publishing, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where two ProVision Alliance punch/benders, three UTM-H conveyors, two CD-H cross conveyors and two stackers will allow three CTP engines to feed the two punch/benders.

Spain's RotoMadrid will install two ProVision Alliance punch/benders to produce, along with two existing G&J punch/benders, plates from four Glunz & Jensen XLV CTP units. Six new conveyors and stackers and five retrofit kits for existing equipment were ordered to automate the four plate lines, which automatically will feed four punch/benders. Bar codes will direct plates to any of the punch/benders and collate and stack plates as assigned.

Also in Spain, G&J technicians are installing a ProVision Alliance, two UTM-H conveyors, CD-H cross conveyor and stacker to produce plates from two CTP lines at el Correo Gallego, Santiago de Compostela.

China Press, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will operate two single-plate lines consisting of two ProVision Alliances, two CM conveyors and two stackers. Sin Chew Jt Poh, Singapore will install two lines, each consisting of a ProVision Alliance, UTM-Rotator and stacker.

Commercial Stimgraf, Guayaquil, Ecuador, ordered a line of plate production equipment that includes a ProVision Alliance, two UTM-H conveyor units, CD-H cross conveyor and stacker. The units will allow two CTP units to feed one ProVision Alliance.

Three new Precision Edge punch/benders will be installed next month at the three Vintage Press sites in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Vintage Press will send technicians Glunz & Jensen's Granger facility, where training will cover installation, set-up, press registration maintenance and troubleshooting.
