Gannett Names Publishers in N.Y., Wis.

By: E&P Staff Gannett Co. Inc. of McLean, Va., has named four new publishers in New York and Wisconsin.

Eugenia "Genia" A. Lovett was appointed president and publisher of the Wausau (Wis.) Daily Herald (Click for QuikCap) and a vice president of the Gannett Midwest newspaper group. She previously held the same titles at The Report in Fond du Lac, Wis. Lovett succeeds Robert E. Robbins, who last week became president of the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio and president and publisher of The Advocate in Newark, Ohio.

Replacing Lovett in Fond du Lac is Margaret "Lani" M.L.K. Dorlack. She had previously been advertising director.

At the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal, Barry Rothfeld becomes president and publisher, leaving those same offices at The Ithaca (N.Y.) Journal. Rothfeld succeeds Richard K. Wager, who becomes chairman of the Poughkeepsie paper and remains vice president of Gannett's Atlantic newspaper group.

Succeeding Rothfeld in Ithaca is James J. Fogler, previously market development director of the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, N.Y.

"It's always great when we can make promotions at the publisher level from within the company," said Gary L. Watson, president of Gannett's newspaper division, in a statement.
