By: E&P Staff Joni Silverstein has been named vice president/market development for Gannett's Newspaper Division.
Silverstein has been president and publisher of The Daily Times in Salisbury, Md., since 2005. She replaces Susie Ellwood, who has been appointed executive vice president and general manager of the Detroit Newspaper Partnership.
Silverstein began her newspaper career at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1978. She joined Gannett in 1998 and served as vice president of market development at Wilmington, Del., before she was appointed to lead the Daily Times.
Richard Jensen has been appointed president and publisher of the Daily Times, replacing Silverstein.
Jensen previously was president and publisher of the Public Opinion in Chambersburg, Pa. Before that, he served as executive editor of the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, N.Y., and the Niagara Gazette in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He joined Gannett in 1974.
