Gannett Purchase of Journal Media Group Approved

Federal regulators have approved the $280 million sale of Journal Media Group Inc. to Gannett Co. Inc., clearing the way for Gannett to acquire the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and 14 other daily newspapers in the U.S.

The transaction received approval Thursday from the U.S. Department of Justice and the deal is expected to close on Friday.
