Gannett U.K. Unit Installs Q.I. Press Controls' mRC

Posted Wednesday, October 29, 2008 12:00 am

By: E&P Staff To improve overall print quality and reduce waste, Gannett's large regional newspaper subsidiary in England, Newsquest, will install on its manroland Uniset 70 towers mRC color register and cut-off controls from Q.I. Press Controls, Oosterhout, the Netherlands.

The sale was made through Gaemmerler UK, Q.I. Press Controls agent for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The choice of control was made after detailed evaluations of three manufacturers' systems, according to Newsquest Hampshire & Dorset General Manager Jonathan Massey. The decision took into account a requirement "for full integration into the [manroland] Pecom press-control system and the compact design of the mRC camera," Massey said in a statement.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
