By: E&P Staff Gannett Co.?s Times Media unit, publisher of the St. Cloud (Minn.) Times, announced it had cut 23 of its 217 staffers earlier this week.
In an article by Britt Johnsen Thursday, Times Publisher Bill Albrecht said 17 people were involuntarily laid off Tuesday and Wednesday, and another four volunteered to be placed on the job-cut list. Six open positions have been eliminated, he said.
The jobs cut were across all divisions of Times Media, including the newsroom, sales, production and circulation.
Albrecht told his paper revenue was down last year, though he did not detail the decrease. Gannett announced in October that it intended to reduce its workforce by 10% by the first week of December.
