On Monday night, Gawker Media began the long legal process to have a jury's $140.1 million verdict against it in the Hulk Hogan trial thrown out.
The company filed both a Motion for Judgement Not Withstanding the Verdict, which essentially asks judge Pamela Campbell to throw out the jury verdict because it was the wrong decision, as well as a Motion for A New Trial, or in the Alternative, for Remittitur, which asks Campbell to either grant a new trial or at least reduce the jury's verdict to what they argue is a more reasonable $1.875 million.
