Gawker Media is close to reaching a settlement with Mail Online, the British media company that sued it for defamation last year, according to documents that Gawker filed with a federal bankruptcy court last week.
Mail Online, parent company of The Daily Mail, sued Gawker for defamation in September, after Gawker.com published an article written by former Mail employee James King that accused Mail Online of plagiarizing other news organizations and knowingly publishing false information.
