Gerald Boyd to Write Syndicated Column

Posted
By: Dave Astor Former New York Times Managing Editor Gerald Boyd will write a weekly media analysis column starting next month for Universal Press Syndicate.

Boyd, along with then-Executive Editor Howell Raines, resigned last year from the Times in the aftermath of the scandal involving reporter Jayson Blair. During Boyd's tenure, the Times garnered several Pulitzer Prizes for its coverage of 9/11.

Universal said Boyd -- currently director of case studies at Columbia University -- "will act as a kind of national ombudsman in his column by bringing readers on the inside of journalism's most heated controversies and covered topics."
