Gilchrist Cartoon Academy to Hold Festival/Auction

By: E&P Staff Guy Gilchrist's Cartoonist's Academy will hold its second annual cartoon festival and silent auction July 24 at the Simsbury, Conn.-based school.

Alternative country singer A.J. Jansen is slated to perform. A portion of the evening's proceeds will go to two nonprofit organizations: TAPS, which assists widows and orphans of military people, and the CT Children's Medical Center.

Cartoonists appearing at the event will include academy founder Guy Gilchrist, who does comics such as "Nancy" for United Media and "Night Lights & Fairy Flights" for Gilchrist Features; Frank Bolle, who draws "Apartment 3-G" for King Features Syndicate; Frank McLaughlin, who works on "Gil Thorp" for Tribune Media Services; and others.
