Bloomberg New Economy, the preeminent platform for dialogue and debate about the future of the global economy, has announced a new advisory board chaired by Gina Raimondo, the former U.S. commerce secretary, and Mario Draghi, who served as prime minister of Italy and president of the European Central Bank.
Founded in 2018, Bloomberg New Economy is a worldwide community of multinational CEOs, public officials, innovators and financiers. With gatherings held in Singapore, Beijing, Panama City, Dublin, Marrakesh and Sao Paulo, and through its Coalitions and Catalyst program, Bloomberg New Economy has fostered global collaboration and mobilized capital for the public good.
Both co-chairs have decades of experience bridging the public and private sectors. Raimondo, an entrepreneur, lawyer and venture capitalist, was also governor of Rhode Island. And Draghi, an economist by training, has been an investment banker and university professor in addition to his roles in government and at multilateral institutions.
Joining Raimondo and Draghi on the Board is a distinguished group of leaders:
“I am honored to lead the Bloomberg New Economy advisory board and support Mike Bloomberg’s mission to foster deeper dialogue among global leaders. As the world navigates this period of geopolitical uncertainty, rapid advancements in technology, and a growing climate crisis, it’s more important than ever to find common ground and build for global prosperity,” said Gina Raimondo, former commerce aecretary of the United States of America.
She added, “I look forward to convening my fellow board members to discuss how we can strengthen resilience in global commerce and collaborate on long-term solutions to these challenges.”
“Gina and Mario bring deep knowledge of markets, strong commitment to fostering public-private partnerships and invaluable experience leading through periods of uncertainty,” said Mike Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies and the 108th mayor of New York City. “With so many forces at work reshaping the global economy — from shifts in trade and politics to accelerating climate change and advances in artificial intelligence — the mission of Bloomberg New Economy is more vital than ever, and we’re excited to welcome Gina and Mario to the advisory board.”
