By: E&P Staff James Kemsley -- who did the "Ginger Meggs" comic for more than two decades -- died yesterday in Bowral, Australia, after a two-year battle with motor neuron disease. He was 59.

Kemsley was the fourth cartoonist to draw the strip about a precocious red-haired boy named Ginger, according to an Associated Press story. He began working on "Ginger Meggs" in 1984, and was credited with transforming the Sunday strip into a daily format and expanding its client list to more than 120 newspapers around the world -- including the United States.
