Glenda Winders to Focus on Writing Rather Than Be a Creators Consultant

Posted
By: Dave Astor When Creators Syndicate announced this May it was buying Copley News Service, it also announced that CNS Vice President/Editor Glenda Winders would stay on at Creators as a consultant "with a special emphasis on working with cartoonists."

But Winders ultimately decided not to accept the consultant offer from Creators President Richard S. Newcombe. "At first I was excited," she told E&P today. "Later on I decided that I'd rather have no ties on my time, so I talked to Rick and he very generously has taken me on as a freelance travel writer."

Winders said she plans to start a novel next month, after having written three while at CNS (now Creators News Service).

"Each came close to being published," she recalled. "I'm hoping if I could come that close with a full-time job, maybe I'll be more successful now that I have time to concentrate on a book."

Winders was an exceptionally popular editor during her 20 years at Copley News Service, as exemplified by the comments of cartoonists interviewed for E&P's May 29 story about the sale to Creators.
