By: E&P Staff As a result of reducing their web size, a number of U.S. dailies have purchased retrofit kits manufactured by Glunz & Jensen for registered plate punches and benders.
Tech Energy ordered retrofit kits for their DPPC s at the Fort Smith (Alaska) Times Record and The Springdale (Ark.) Morning News, which are reducing their page size to 48 inches, and at Jacksonville (N.C.) Daily News, which will cut down to 46 inches.
The New London (Conn.) Day is modifying an Opti-bender to handle a 46-inch web. The Day will also install the Glunz & Jensen stainless steel, Narrow Gap/No-tool lockups.
In Kentucky, the Louisville Courier-Journal will upgrade three lines of XLV CTP lines with Glunz & Jensen Provision benders and UTMs to complete a web reduction to 44 inches.
The Truth of Elkhart (Ind.) will retrofit their Power bender and install 40 new CML Single Acting lockups for a web reduction to 44 inches.
California's Sacramento Bee added another ProVision Alliance bender and two-position stacker and UTMs to their existing Glunz & Jensen line.
The Lansing State Journal (Mich.), due to reduce their web to 44 inches, has purchased the Provision 27 and ProVision Alliance bender, along with new UTMs.
