Glunz & Jensen Sales on Three Continents

By: E&P Staff Customers in Europe, Africa, and Asia have purchased punch-bending equipment from Glunz & Jensen's U.S. division in Granger, Ind.

La Provincia in Pavese, Italy, ordered a two-into-one system consisting of a ProVision Alliance AC punch-bender with two four-position stackers and two Universal Transition Modules (UTM) entry conveyors that accept plates from Kodak Trendsetter News computer-to-plate engines and plate processors. A Glunz & Jensen CD-H cross conveyor allow for plates to feed from the two CTP units into the ProVision Alliance.

Also from Italy, Il Centro, in Pescara, bought a two-into-one ProVision Alliance AC punch-bend system that also consists of two UTM entry conveyors and one CD-H cross-conveyor to flow plates to the punch-bend device. Il Centro also will receive a bar-code reader for sorting plates to optimized bin locations and sending plate status back to the Kodak CTP front end. Il Centro will produce plates from two Kodak Trendsetter News platesetters and plate processors.

Serbia's Press Publishing Group will install in late fall a two-into-one line of Precision Edge punch-bending, which will accept plates from two Kodak Trendsetter News CTP units and Kodak plate processors. Two UTMs will rotate plates before feeding them to the punch-bender. The Precision Edge registers plates with three-sided electrical contacts mirrored to the CTP registration.

Akhbar Elyom in Cairo, Egypt, chose two parallel lines of Glunz & Jensen punch-bend equipment to complement its Kodak Trendsetter News 150 devices and Mercury P-HD 850 plate processors. Installation is set for December.

News Straits Times of Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, ordered three ProVision Alliance punch-benders with conveyor systems that include three UTMs with rotation and flip gates and two CD-H cross conveyors to allow plates to flow to any open punch-bender. Three four-position stackers will queue plates for the pressroom.
