By: E&P Staff GMG USA of Randolph, Mass., a subsidiary of Germany's GMG GmbH & Co. KG, signed Digital Color Source (DCS) of Higley, Ariz., to a U.S. distribution agreement that calls for it to build a national reseller network for GMG digital color proofing solutions. In a related arrangement, Chromaticity will provide technical support for DCS resellers, and install and train end users as needed.
GMG color-managed software provides for accurate calibration of inkjet printers used for making contract color proofs matched to a printing process. The DotProof option enables output of digital halftone contract proofs, complete with original screen data. GMG ColorProof received Specifications for Web Offset Publications certification for ColorProof driving Epson's StylusPro 7600, 9600 and 10600 printers.
DCS has partnered with Chromaticity to support its color-technology customers. Chromaticity's scope includes color management, measurement, editing and reproduction, digital, remote and soft proofing, process control and a color help desk.
ColorProof consists of basic software (color engine, profile editor/creator and RIP) and output modules for various devices. The core element is a 4-D color-transformation engine. To calibrate the system, all standard color targets can be automatically measured using a spectrophotometer.
Device-independent color profiles can be archived, making the system, with linearization tools, suited to remote proofing.
