God is Female in Cartoon about Pope

By: E&P Staff Many editorial cartoonists have glossed over Pope John Paul II's more conservative policies to do respectful tributes to the late pontiff. But there have been some exceptions.

For instance, Rainer Hachfeld of Berlin's "Neues Deutschland" publication showed the pope -- who was adamantly against the idea of female priests -- exclaiming "Oh my God!" as he discovers in the hereafter that the Supreme Being is a woman.
