By: Staff reports News Site Joins the Auction Game
MSNBC.com first and foremost touts itself as a news site, but its e-commerce component is growing. The Redmond, Wash.-based outfit on Thursday launched Auctions@MSNBC.
MSNBC.com General Manager John Nicol said the site "must continue to grow and provide our users with additional resources as they visit our site."
FairMarket Inc. of Woburn, Mass., is providing the technology. The company also provides online auctions for New York Times Digital's NYToday.com and boston.com.
MSNBC already had a shopping section that includes featured merchants like Sears, The Gap, and Beauty.com.
