By: Jim Rosenberg Goss International of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Ferag AG entered an agreement whereby Goss becomes the Swiss post-press systems manufacturer?s exclusive distributor in North America.
Calling their products ?complementary and often used together,? the companies said the agreement grew out of cooperation on customer projects (see E&P Online, Jan. 19). Goss will offer all Ferag equipment for newspaper and commercial customers.
Ferag will retain U.S. offices to support Goss? efforts on Ferag?s behalf. Ferag also will continue is aftermarket sales, service, and training for North American customers.
The arrangement adds to Goss? post-press offerings, which it acquired when it purchased the web press and much of the post-press equipment business of Germany?s Heidleberger Druckmaschinen.
Ferag Americas CEO Joe Colletti said the companies already are participating in several joint projects.
Where a customer sees value in contracting directly with Ferag, however, ?we?re prepared to work that way, said Toby Clarke, Goss vice president of print finishing.
