Goss Community Towers, Drive Upgrade in Manitoba

Posted
By: E&P Staff To increase color capacity and quality, Derksen Printers Ltd., Steinbach, Manitoba, ordered from Goss International two Community four-high towers, two splicers and an upgrade from a DC to AC drive system.

Owner and President Rick Derksen said in a statement that demand in recent years for more color and better quality has "increased dramatically -- even for short-runs of between 1,000-10,000 copies." He said the new towers perfectly match the current press and "will enable us to produce short-run half-tab magazines up to 100,000 copies. The new splicers will also allow us to print larger runs faster and more economically."

Derksen prints The Carillon, a 12,000-circulation rural weekly. The company also handles contract work for a number of clients and, with the addition of a four-color sheetfed press, specializes in short-run newspapers and in flyers with run lengths from 250 to 100,000 copies.
